A massive fire engulfed the main stage of Belgium’s iconic Tomorrowland music festival on Wednesday, July 16, just two days before opening.
The blaze broke out in Boom, Belgium, sending thick black smoke into the sky and damaging nearby woodland.
The main stage—central to the festival’s identity—was “severely damaged”, according to organizers.
Despite the destruction, DreamVille campsite will open as planned on Thursday, and the festival will proceed from Friday through Sunday.
No injuries were reported.
Social media videos showed flames erupting from the stage, with what sounded like fireworks going off.
One worker described the scene as “apocalyptic”, saying four weeks of construction were lost in half an hour.
Firefighters battled the blaze and urged nearby residents to shelter indoors.
Authorities are investigating the cause, which remains unknown.
