India Arrests Kashmir Resident Over Deadly Delhi Car Blast

New Delhi, November 16, 2025

Indian authorities have arrested a man from Indian-administered Kashmir in connection with last week’s deadly car explosion near the historic Red Fort in Old Delhi, which killed 12 people and injured 32 others.

The suspect, Amir Rashid Ali, was identified as the registered owner of the vehicle used in the blast. According to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Ali is believed to have assisted the suicide bomber who carried out the attack. The explosion, which occurred on November 12, has since been officially designated a terrorist incident by the Indian government.

In response, security forces launched a sweeping crackdown across Kashmir, conducting hundreds of raids and detaining several individuals for questioning. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet condemned the attack as a “heinous terror incident perpetrated by antinational forces,” vowing swift justice for victims and accountability for collaborators and sponsors.

The blast has reignited tensions around counterterrorism policy and regional security, with analysts warning of intensified surveillance and enforcement measures in Kashmir. The Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site and symbol of Indian sovereignty, was cordoned off for days as forensic teams combed the area for evidence.

This incident marks one of the deadliest attacks in the capital in recent years and has prompted renewed calls for enhanced urban security protocols and intelligence coordination.
