Trump Shrugs Off China-Russia Axis

In a recent radio interview, President Trump brushed off concerns about a growing China-Russia alliance, citing the U.S.’s unmatched military strength. He stated, “They would never use their military on us. Believe me, that would be the worst thing they could ever do.”

Trump expressed disappointment with Russian President Vladimir Putin for failing to broker peace in Ukraine, saying his focus is on “helping people live,” rather than just resolving the war.

The comments come amid intensified cooperation between Beijing and Moscow. At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, Xi Jinping and Putin jointly criticized what they called Washington’s global dominance.

Putin attended China’s largest-ever military parade, marking the 80th anniversary of Japan’s WWII defeat. Trump dismissed the parade as a threat, saying “China needs us much more than we need them.”

Geopolitical Context:

The China-Russia axis is increasingly seen as a counterweight to the Western-led order.

Trump’s remarks signal confidence in U.S. deterrence, but critics argue they may underestimate the strategic depth of Sino-Russian alignment.
