The “Tesla Takedown” movement has shifted focus to Elon Musk’s newly opened 24-hour Tesla Diner in Hollywood, Los Angeles, a retro-futuristic venue serving burgers in Cybertruck-shaped boxes with Optimus robots handing out popcorn.
Demonstrators have long opposed Musk’s role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), blaming him for slashing U.S. government spending, dismantling agencies like USAID, and cutting over 280,000 jobs.
Weekend Action:
Around 75 protesters gathered outside the diner on July 26.
Organizer Joel Lava claims the diner’s buzz will fade and protests will intensify through summer.
Slogans include “Tesla funds fascism” and criticism of Musk’s alleged anti-trans stance.
Despite backlash, fans queued for 11 hours on opening day.
Musk’s diner concept dates back to a 2018 tweet envisioning a “drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant”.
Tesla’s Financials:
Q2 auto revenue down 16%, overall revenue down 12%.
Model Y and 3 sales fell 12%; Cybertruck sales plunged 52%.
Tesla stock dropped 34% since its December peak.
“Tesla Takedown” protests continue weekly across the U.S., with 40 events planned for the weekend.
Organizers claim success in tarnishing Tesla’s brand, aiming to erode Musk’s influence by targeting his wealth source.
