Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stark message to Palestinians in Gaza City: “leave now.” This comes as Israeli forces intensify bombardments ahead of a planned ground invasion.
Volker Türk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, accused Israel of committing “war crime upon war crime” and obstructing lifesaving aid. He stated the devastation “shocks the conscience of the world” and said Israel may face legal consequences at the International Court of Justice.
Scale of Destruction:
- Over 50 buildings flattened since Sunday, with 200+ tents destroyed near displaced encampments.
- Strikes targeted mosques, sports grounds, and residential towers, including the az-Zarqa and Tuffah districts.
- Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud described the destruction as “systematic,” erasing not just homes but essential services.
Civilian Toll:
- At least 52 Palestinians were killed on Monday, including 32 in Gaza City.
- Six more deaths were attributed to starvation and malnutrition, highlighting the deepening humanitarian crisis.
- Among the dead: Osama Balousha, a Palestinian journalist. Officials report nearly 250 journalists killed since the war began, all Palestinian, as foreign media remain barred.
