Modi Rebukes Terror Double Standards at SCO Summit

TIANJIN

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a forceful address at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, declaring that “no double standards on terrorism are acceptable.” With Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in attendance, Modi’s remarks were widely interpreted as a direct rebuke to Islamabad’s alleged tolerance of extremist networks.

Referencing the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Modi called terrorism “a challenge to all of humanity,” and urged SCO nations to adopt a unified, uncompromising stance. He praised member states that stood by India in its hour of grief and emphasized India’s leadership in counter-terror efforts, including action against Al Qaeda and terror financing.

Modi also linked connectivity projects to sovereignty, warning that initiatives bypassing national integrity “lose trust and meaning.” He reaffirmed India’s commitment to regional development through projects like Chabahar Port and the North-South Transport Corridor.
