Israel Bombs Media Tent, World Mourns Slain Journalists

Israel confirmed it deliberately killed five Al Jazeera staff, including correspondent Anas al-Sharif and four camera operators, by striking their tent near al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

Global Mourning and Outrage:

Vigils and protests erupted worldwide, from Buenos Aires to Istanbul, condemning the attack and calling for accountability. The journalists had reportedly faced threats for months.

UN Security Council Emergency Session:

The Council convened to address the escalating crisis. Most members condemned Israel’s plans to seize Gaza City and displace nearly a million Palestinians. The U.S., however, defended Israel and blamed Hamas.

At least 52 Palestinians were killed in recent Israeli attacks across Gaza. The death toll from starvation linked to the blockade has reached 217, including over 100 children.

More than 230 media workers have died since the war began, raising alarms about press freedom and the targeting of journalists.

Israeli Strategy:

Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that seizing Gaza City would be the “fastest way” to end the war, while claiming Hamas is responsible for the humanitarian crisis.
