Ford Issues Major Recall for Brake Hose Defect

DETROIT, Aug 28

Ford Motor Co. has issued a recall for over 480,000 vehicles in North America due to a potentially dangerous brake fluid leak that could impair stopping power and increase crash risk.

Affected Models:

The recall targets Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX SUVs manufactured between 2015 and 2018. The issue stems from front brake hoses that may rupture over time, causing fluid loss.

Safety Risk:

Ford warns that a leak could lead to longer brake pedal travel, reduced braking performance, and increased risk of accidents. The company has received reports of seven crashes and one injury linked to the defect.

Remedy & Notification:

Dealers will replace the faulty hoses with new, upgraded parts. Owners will be notified by mail starting October 2025, and repairs will be conducted free of charge.

Market Reaction:

Shares of Ford dipped slightly following the announcement, as analysts weigh the impact on consumer confidence and warranty costs.
