Al Jazeera’s Response:
The network condemned the killings as a “targeted assassination” and a blatant attack on press freedom, rejecting Israel’s claims as part of a smear campaign. UN rapporteurs and media watchdogs echoed concerns over systematic targeting of journalists.
Over 200 journalists have reportedly been killed in Gaza since October 2023.
The strike occurred amid Israel’s plan to seize Gaza City and forcibly relocate nearly 1 million Palestinians southward.
