Israeli Strikes on Gaza Kill 23 in Deadliest Day Since ‘Ceasefire’

Gaza City

At least 23 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Tuesday, marking one of the deadliest days since the fragile ceasefire was declared. Health officials in Gaza described the bombardment as “unprecedented in scale,” with casualties including women and children.

The Israeli military said the strikes targeted Hamas positions in response to rocket fire, while residents reported entire residential blocks reduced to rubble. Hospitals in Gaza are struggling to cope with the influx of wounded, with medical staff warning of shortages in supplies.

International reaction has been swift:

The United Nations called for restraint, urging both sides to honour ceasefire commitments, while regional leaders condemned the escalation. Analysts warn the violence risks derailing ongoing mediation efforts and deepening the humanitarian crisis in the enclave.
